Holi , the festival of colours , is celebrated with great enthusiasm and spirit all over the world by the people of Indian origin. Holi is celebrated on Phalgun Purnima (or Pooranmashi, Full Moon), which comes in February end or early March. It is the most popular Hindu spring festival and most ancient festivals of the Aryans which was regarded to be the festival to celebrate good harvests and fertility or Holi is the thanksgiving festival of India. Holi is celebrated with colours, light a bonfire called Holika and it signifies the victory of good over evil. More importantly it gives an opportunity to spread joy, colours and love into the lives of all, irrespective of cast, religion or nation.
 
There are many legends include:
  • The story of King Hiranyakashipu, Prahlad and sacrifice of Holika who burnt herself in fire on this day.
  • Legend on Pootana
  • Lord Krishna and Radha's celebration of love at Vrindavan
  • Invincible Dhundhi
  • Sacrifice of Kamadeva(The God of love)
